Brody Sweeney, the founder of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bars, is meeting Link Dublin members on March 21st to talk about business survival.

About Brody…

Brody founded the O’Briens Sandwich Bar chain in 1988, and expanded the chain to over three hundred outlets in 16 countries.

During the severe downturn, Brody put the U.K. division into administration in 2009, and bought the business back from the administrators. He then put the Irish business into examinership, and failed in a High Court action to rescind onerous leases.

The Irish company was subsequently put into liquidation, and Brody exited the business after a deal was made with an Irish Investment company. In March 2010, he sold his shares in the remaining O’Briens businesses and that business continues to thrive today across Europe.

Sweeney is also the founder of the Camile Thai Kitchen Group, a chain of Thai hot food delivery businesses. He is a non-executive director of Paddy Power PLC, one of Ireland’s largest companies. He is co-founder of the Irish business charitable foundation, Connect Ethiopia and he is author of two business books ‘Making Bread’ published in 2005, and ‘Small to Tall’ published in 2008.
